The Council of Canadians, in coordination with the Canadian Health Coalition, is supporting the National Day of Action to protect and strengthen public health care. At least 19 chapters of the Council of Canadians are taking part in events from coast to coast in opposition to Harper’s health care cuts.
WHAT: Over 40 events are taking place to show how the Harper government’s $36-billion cut to federal health care funding will dismantle the public system.
WHY: The organization argues that the $36-billion cut to health care will pave the way for mass privatization. The Harper government’s refusal to renegotiate a new health accord will result in unequal health care services across the country.
