Council of Canadians presents case against the TPP at Winnipeg consultations

WINNIPEG – Local representatives of the Council of Canadians will take part in public consultations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) hosted by the Standing Committee on International Trade in Winnipeg today. The committee will hear from a select group of witnesses as part of its ongoing review of the Harper-era deal.

Who: Douglas Tingey, business lawyer and member of the Winnipeg chapter of the Council of Canadians; Brigette DePape, Prairies Regional Organizer with the Council of Canadians

Where: Delta Winnipeg Hotel, 350 St. Mary Ave, Winnipeg

When: April 20, 2016 at 12:45 p.m. CDT

“The TPP would mean major losses for jobs, the environment and community empowerment,” says Brigette DePape, Prairies Regional Organizer with the Council of Canadians. “It puts more power in the hands of corporate investors, and less power in the hands of the people.”
