Ontario climate plan undermined by failure to tackle pipelines, says Council of Canadians

“Ontario’s climate plan brings some forward movement on a much needed energy shift and exploration of alternatives, but falls short on the pipeline file. Indeed, any climate plan that does not reject new pipelines on its territory should not and cannot be considered a climate plan,” says Daniel Cayley-Daoust, Energy and Climate Campaigner with the Council of Canadians. “Premier Wynne has already been touring the country in support of new pipeline infrastructure such as Energy East, infrastructure that will bust Canada’s carbon budget and clearly undermines the Ontario government’s so-called climate plan. These are clear contradictions that need to be highlighted, especially in a context where there is absolutely no real need for these new pipelines.”
