Picton book launch to examine corporatization of water

Corporatizing CanadaWHAT: The Picton book launch for Corporatizing Canada: Making Business Out of Public Service will include a discussion on how corporatization of water has transformed water management in Canada.

FEATURING: Emma Lui, Water Campaigner for the Council of Canadians and contributor to the book. Lui will discuss current water issues, how market-based principles are paving the way for Nestlé’s water takings and how Picton becoming a Blue Community would help to protect the human right to water.

WHY: Corporatizing Canada critically examines how corporatization has been implemented in different ways across the Canadian public sector, from schools to hospitals and from utilities to food banks, and warns us of the threat that neoliberal corporatization poses to democratic decision-making and the public at large.
