The Council of Canadians is seeking two (2) members to join the Nominations Committee to assist in preparations for the Annual Meeting of Members (AMM) which is scheduled for Sunday, June 22, 2025.
The mandate of the Nominations Committee is found in Article 9.03 of the Bylaws of the Council.
The committee undertakes three important activities: it promotes, receives, and assesses nominations for and from members to stand for election to director-at-large positions on the Board consistent with the provisions of the Bylaws, including but not limited to Articles 3 and 5.
It then provides members a report with a list of eligible candidates to be circulated at least 21 days in advance of the election. The report includes the Nominating Committee’s confirmation of eligibility and assessment of each candidate.
Current Members
At a meeting of March 31, 2025, the Board appointed three (3) members of the Board to the Nominations Committee as follows: Sam Hammond, Diwa Marcelino, and Bianca Mugyenyi, and as indicated we would like to include two (2) members of the Council.
Article 9.03 of the Bylaws requires members of the Nominating Committee to be representative of diversity, including equity-seeking groups, and reflect the vision, mission and values of the Council.
Deadline to Apply
The deadline to apply is Sunday, April 20, 2025, at midnight Pacific Time, using the online expression of interest form below.
If you are able to participate in the work of the Nominations Committee in the period between April 22, 2025 and the AMM on June 22, 2025, with follow up, please consider applying.

The Nominations Committee will start its work to oversee 2025 AMM nominations process on April 22, 2025 as follows:
- April 22, 2025 – Nominations Committee begins its work
- April 22, 2025 – Nominations for Member-at-large positions on the Board opens
- May 16, 2025 – Deadline for Member-at-large nominations
- May 21, 2025 – Report of Nominations Committee
- May 29, 2025 – Online election forum for Member-at-large positions
- June 12, 2025 – Online voting week
- June 19, 2025 – Election Results
- June 22, 2025 – AMM
- Following June 22, 2025 – Nominations Committee debrief
