Mississippi Mills town council
Mississippi Mills is a town of about 12,000 people in Lanark County, located about 50 kilometres east of Ottawa within Canada’s National Capital Region. It includes the communities of Almonte, Cedar Hill, and Pakenham. On May 8, Councilor John Edwards presented a ‘blue community’ resolution to the Public Works Committee and it was approved in principle.
The resolution:
-recognizes water as a human right
-promotes publicly financed, owned and operated water and waste water services
-bans the sale of bottled water in public facilities and municipal events
With the adoption of the resolution in principle it now goes to town staff.
